Job Description

The Production Director is directly responsible for all of the technical details in the audio, video and lighting areas within our weekend worship experiences. The Production Director manages all AVL equipment, including the purchase, maintenance, organization and operation of all AVL equipment for all locations.

The Production Director seeks to add value through the use of technology and creative strategies that help Turning Point Church accomplish its mission and goals.

The following consist of the type of skill and ministry experience we are looking for:

Technical Production Experience

  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in live production, preferably in a church or similar live-event environment.
  • Experience overseeing production for weekly services, rehearsals, special events, and other ministry environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of live audio, including FOH mixing, monitor/IEM systems, RF coordination, signal flow, system troubleshooting, and audio networking.
  • Experience with professional digital audio consoles; Allen & Heath dLive experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Waves/SoundGrid or similar live plugin processing systems.
  • Working knowledge of lighting systems, including programming, cueing, fixture configuration, DMX/networking, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with MA Lighting consoles/software, preferably MA2 or transferable experience with comparable professional lighting platforms.
  • Experience with live video production and directing, including camera direction, shot composition, switching, routing, and broadcast/stream workflows.
  • Familiarity with Blackmagic Design video systems/switchers or comparable broadcast systems.
  • Advanced experience with ProPresenter, including show preparation, arrangements, themes, stage displays, media, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with playback/tracks systems, Ableton Live, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of production networking, signal distribution, Dante/audio networking, video routing, and general AV infrastructure.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems during live environments.

Service Programming & Leadership Experience

  • Experience translating a creative or ministry vision into a practical technical execution.
  • Experience building and executing complete service flows across audio, lighting, video, lyrics, playback/tracks, and other production elements.
  • Ability to anticipate technical and programming needs before rehearsals and services.
  • Experience leading rehearsals and ensuring production elements are prepared before Sunday.
  • Previous experience leading both staff and volunteer production teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, develop, schedule, and retain volunteers.
  • Experience developing people from beginner-level volunteers into capable operators and leaders.
  • Ability to provide clear feedback and coaching while maintaining a healthy team culture.
  • Experience delegating responsibility rather than personally operating every position.
  • Ability to identify and develop future production leaders.
  • Experience leading teams with varying levels of technical knowledge and experience.

Systems & Organizational Experience

  • Experience creating and maintaining production systems, workflows, documentation, and SOPs.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple environments and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience maintaining production equipment, coordinating repairs, and planning preventative maintenance.
  • Experience helping develop production budgets and prioritize equipment purchases/upgrades.
  • Ability to evaluate systems and recommend improvements based on ministry needs rather than simply purchasing new technology.
  • Experience coordinating with worship, communications, pastoral, facilities, and other ministry departments.

Church & Ministry Experience

  • Experience working within a church production environment is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of the unique relationship between worship, pastoral leadership, programming, and production.
  • Ability to balance technical excellence with flexibility in ministry environments.
