Job description

About the Role

Join a public safety technology team building and operating the cloud data platform behind large-scale search and retrieval systems. You will own core infrastructure and distributed services, helping make them reliable, secure, and scalable.

What You'll Do

  • Design and operate data infrastructure for large-scale ingestion into object storage and indexing in databases and vector stores.

  • Make architecture decisions across storage tiers, distributed databases, and high-throughput messaging and streaming systems.

  • Deploy and scale containerized services across environments using orchestration platforms, declarative configuration, and GitOps workflows.

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and tools that support safe, frequent releases.

  • Help operate secure, auditable systems in federal or other regulated environments.

  • Debug and tune systems across application code, storage, and networking, and mentor engineers through reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.

What We're Looking For

  • Five or more years of professional software engineering experience building and maintaining production systems, ideally within a 5 to 10 year career range.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS production workloads and designing large-scale data storage and retrieval across hot and cold tiers.

  • A strong foundation in distributed systems, backend engineering, production data pipelines, and end-to-end ownership, including deployment and on-call operations.

  • Experience with DevOps practices such as CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, and automated deployments.

  • Experience running containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes, and familiarity with Terraform, GitOps, ArgoCD, and Helm.

  • Familiarity with Python or Go, PostgreSQL, vector databases, S3 or similar object storage, Kafka, and distributed SQL databases.

  • Federal, FedRAMP, or other regulated-environment experience is helpful.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
