Job Description

GovCIO LLC seeks a Senior Linux Administrator to support mission-critical federal IT programs. You'll design, secure, and maintain enterprise Linux environments, driving automation, reliability, and performance across on-prem and cloud platforms. Responsibilities include patching, configuration management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and implementing STIG-compliant hardening. You'll collaborate with engineers, developers, and cybersecurity teams in a mission-driven, fast-paced setting while mentoring junior staff and contributing to continuous infrastructure improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain secure, enterprise-grade Linux servers for federal customers.
  • Implement automation for provisioning, configuration, and patching using tools like Ansible.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot incidents, and ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Harden systems to meet federal security and compliance requirements (e.g., STIGs).
  • Manage user access, storage, backups, and recovery processes.
  • Support cloud and virtualized Linux workloads across on-prem and hybrid environments.
  • Collaborate with developers, cybersecurity, and operations teams to support mission-critical apps.
  • Create and maintain system documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and incident response for production environments.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of infrastructure, tools, and processes.
