NAVAL ARCHITECT | Bowie, MD, United States | Hybrid

We're hiring on behalf of a leading organization within the defense sector renowned for its expertise in naval systems and engineering. This established entity plays a critical role in the development and integration of major maritime defense programs, offering a dynamic environment for professionals dedicated to advancing naval technology and strategy.

The Role

  • Manage naval architecture aspects for major aircraft carrier program systems integration, representing the platform's perspective.
  • Develop and implement engineering policy for Navy project engineers, PARMs/ISEAs, and contractors involved in aircraft carrier development.
  • Plan, design, and report on high-risk engineering operations for system and aircraft carrier design.
  • Represent the organization on matters of engineering policy, negotiating critical outcomes for system of systems and ship integration.
  • Demonstrate experience in planning and managing complex programs for ship design, maintenance, repair, modernization, and development.
  • Evaluate and incorporate the latest developments in Naval Architecture and Engineering Systems into technical plans, proposals, and specifications.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or equivalent through specific coursework or professional licensure.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to NH-03 (GS-13) in managing systems engineering projects for ship or ship system design, development, or maintenance.
  • Professional engineering degree or current Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Proven experience in planning and managing complex engineering programs.
  • Familiarity with Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements may be beneficial.
