Head of Video Department - Entertainment - Full Time (Flamingo LV)

The Head of Video is responsible for running a cue track for performances within the Flamingo Main Showroom and other special events/ shows in the theater. Perform a daily general check of the video system and its equipment within the Showroom. The Head of Video must be able to multitask and adapt, watching the show and artists’ movements, with the ability to adjust cues as needed. This technician must be able to troubleshoot video issues that arise during a show, using clear communication to solve problems in a timely manner.

• Operate, maintain, program, and troubleshoot QLab software.
• Upload show records nightly as requested by productions
• Add timecode to video packages in consultation with production provided by lighting designer.
• Keep the video plot and technical package up to date.
• Create and maintain SOPs as needed for the daily operation of the department
• Responsible for the repairs and maintenance of the venue’s video equipment.
• Makes recommendations to improve the venue’s video and production. 
• Oversee show changes, installations, and modifications as needed.
• Manage load-in, set-up, video checks, show performance, strike, and load out. 
• Work with outside clients for successful integration into existing house package for one off events and conduct themselves professionally to retain client relations
• Train subordinates, providing each with the knowledge, development and appropriate direction to successfully perform their responsibilities.
• Partners with Technical Manager to plan and advance one-off events, interpret technical riders and help client or incoming productions arrange for video equipment that integrates with the venue’s existing system
• Performs other duties as assigned

• A-List member in IATSE Local 720 (Las Vegas)
• OSHA 10 certification
• 2 years of experience as a Head of Video role for live production shows.
• Strong knowledge of NovaStar processors, including setup and control, Blackmagic video converters, switchers, and video routers, HyperDeck recorders, Image Pros required
• Extensive Knowledge of QLab programming and scripting required
• Knowledge of pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras and Panasonic SD-SDI robotic camera systems
• Basic networking, audio signal flow, CAT 5 and CAT 6 cable repairs required
• Troubleshooting complex signal flows (SDI, fiber, HDMI, IP video) between media servers, switchers, and display surfaces.
• Able to work with all other heads of departments for the successful implementation of video elements into existing systems
• Able to work with the Technical Manager
• Able to work with numerous and diverse cast members and crew to troubleshoot operational show issues calmly and clearly communicate needs/expectations with others.
• Willing to take work calls for rehearsals and other special events.
• Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Able to work 6 days a week on a long-term basis.
• Attention to detail in a fast paced, changing environment
• Willing to take work calls for general daily maintenance for video needs on LED walls, signal flow troubleshooting, LED wall color calibration, LED wall configuration, LED wall scaling, and other general equipment repair.
• Lead crews for load in, setup, and out for one of events with precise timeline.
• Knowledge of projector setup preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work at heights and perform equipment maintenance and cable installations.
• Ability to frequently climb stairs, bend, reach, push, pull, and stand or move for extended periods.
• Ability to sit or stand for periods exceeding 90 minutes.
• Must be available to work varied schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, rehearsals, and special events, as business needs require.
