Job Description

STS Technical Services is hiring a Network Infrastructure Technician in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role supports the technology infrastructure behind manufacturing and office operations, with hands-on responsibility for networking, structured cabling, physical security systems and facility-level technology. The ideal candidate has practical experience working with network equipment, low-voltage infrastructure and security systems and is comfortable supporting technology across both office and industrial environments.

Position Overview The Network Infrastructure Technician will install, maintain and troubleshoot network, cabling, security and facility technology systems across multiple buildings and production environments. This position works closely with IT, Facilities and Operations teams to help maintain reliable connectivity, secure facilities and organized infrastructure while supporting continued system expansion.

Responsibilities Network & Infrastructure Install, configure and maintain network switches, routers, firewalls and wireless access points Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues Perform network diagnostics and optimization across multiple buildings and production environments Manage VLANs and network port configurations Support link aggregation and other Layer 2 and Layer 3 functions Assist with network documentation and topology mapping Maintain network asset tracking information Structured Cabling Run Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6a network cabling throughout office and manufacturing spaces Terminate and test network cabling Install and maintain patch panels Install and maintain network racks and cable management systems Perform cable certification and labeling Maintain accurate cabling documentation Help maintain clean and organized network environments Security & Access Control Systems Install, configure and maintain CCTV systems Support IP cameras Maintain NVRs and monitoring stations Troubleshoot CCTV equipment and connectivity Support access control systems Troubleshoot badge readers and door controllers Support related access control hardware Assist with security system upgrades and expansions Support system integrations across multiple facilities Fire Alarm & Facility Technology Support Support fire alarm panels, sensors and notification systems in coordination with licensed vendors Assist with facility technology installations Support intercom systems Support paging systems Assist with environmental monitoring devices Help maintain facility technology systems as required General IT Support Work with IT team members to support end-user connectivity Assist with device setup Troubleshoot network-related end-user issues Participate in an on-call rotation for critical infrastructure support Qualifications Two to five years of experience in network infrastructure, structured cabling or low-voltage systems Strong understanding of TCP/IP Working knowledge of DHCP and DNS Understanding of VLANs and network switching Hands-on structured cabling experience Experience terminating network cabling Experience performing cable testing Experience working with CCTV systems including IP cameras and NVRs Experience with access control hardware Ability to read and interpret blueprints Ability to read wiring diagrams and network layouts Comfortable working in industrial and construction environments Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications Experience with Ubiquiti, Cisco or similar networking platforms Familiarity with Lenel, HID, Avigilon, Verkada or comparable security systems Knowledge of fire alarm systems and NFPA standards in a support capacity CompTIA Network+ certification CompTIA Security+ certification Equivalent networking or security certifications Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Comfortable working on ladders and lifts Comfortable working in tight spaces Ability to work in manufacturing environments that may include noise, dust and temperature variation About STS Technical Services STS Technical Services is a Top 100 Staffing Firm that partners with leading aerospace, manufacturing, defense and industrial organizations across the United States.
