Manufacturing Engineering Manager

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead a critical function within the Operations team.

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, you will be responsible for the leadership, development and performance of Manufacturing Engineering, NPI Industrialisation, Continuous Improvement and Equipment Maintenance activities across the site.

This role will play a key part in delivering the manufacturing strategy, supporting new product introductions, driving process optimisation, implementing automation and digitisation initiatives, and ensuring manufacturing capability is aligned with future business growth.

Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager

  • Lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering function, ensuring resources are aligned to business objectives.
  • Define and deliver the manufacturing engineering strategy and technology roadmap.
  • Drive the successful industrialisation of new products, ensuring manufacturing readiness ahead of launch.
  • Act as the technical authority for manufacturing processes, equipment and industrialisation activities.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, systems, tooling and equipment.
  • Identify and implement automation, digitisation and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  • Lead NPI, CAPEX and continuous improvement projects across the manufacturing operation.
  • Support Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives.
  • Deliver productivity improvements, waste reduction and manufacturing cost savings.

Requirements of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager

  • Minimum 7 years' experience within a manufacturing engineering environment.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a leadership or management position.
  • Proven track record leading Manufacturing Engineering, NPI Industrialisation and Continuous Improvement functions.
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience working within ISO9001 or similar quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems such as ERP, MES, CAD and data analytics tools.
  • Experience managing CAPEX budgets and investment projects.
