Job Description

GXO Logistics is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to lead the design, deployment and optimization of automation in our transportation and warehousing operations. In this role, you will specify and integrate robotics, conveyors, sortation, and control systems, develop PLC and WCS logic, and use data to improve throughput, accuracy and safety. You'll partner with operations, IT and vendors to deliver new sites and retrofits, manage projects from concept through go-live, and drive continuous improvement. Responsibilities

  • Design and specify automation solutions for warehousing and logistics operations, including robotics, conveyors, sorters and control systems.
  • Develop and optimize PLC, WCS and related control logic to improve throughput, accuracy and reliability.
  • Lead automation projects from concept and requirements through design, installation, testing and go-live.
  • Analyze operational data and KPIs to identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with operations, IT, safety and external vendors to ensure successful integration of new technologies.
  • Conduct system troubleshooting, root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and support risk assessments for automated equipment and processes.
  • Create technical documentation, drawings and specifications for automation equipment and layouts.
  • Train operations and maintenance teams on new automated systems and best practices.
  • Support multi-site and global initiatives to standardize and scale automation solutions across GXO's network.
