Senior Application Developer

About This Role

The DC Department of Human Services (DHS), Office of Information Systems (OIS), Application Software Development Division is seeking a Senior Application Developer to design, develop, deliver, and enhance Client-Server, Web, Cloud, and Mobile applications using .NET/ASP/Visual C#. You will build new functionality and system enhancements, troubleshoot production issues, build reporting and dashboards, implement secure and defect-free programming standards, and mentor a team of developers while interacting daily with government clients. This is a 100% onsite role in Washington, DC (11 to 15 years of experience).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deliver, and enhance Client-Server, Web, Cloud, and Mobile applications using .NET/ASP/Visual C#
• Build additional functionality and system enhancements, make system fixes, and troubleshoot production issues for assigned applications
• Work with Business Analysts to understand business processes and formulate IT solutions that improve efficiency
• Build enhanced reporting and dashboard capabilities and perform proactive application monitoring (including audit-log tracking)
• Implement programming standards that support secure, defect-free applications; work with QA/QC teams
• Provide mentorship and technical advice to a team of application, reports, and query developers, and strategic advice to leadership
• Interact daily with government clients to meet technical requirements for new initiatives
• Update system and process documentation and produce user guides, ER diagrams, SOPs, and Visio network design drawings

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent experience; 11 to 15 years of professional software development experience
• Strong experience with Microsoft .NET / ASP / Visual C#, SQL Server, and SQL / procedural language
• Design and delivery of Client-Server, Web-Based, Cloud-Based, and Mobile applications
• Case and program management application development
• Secure, defect-free programming standards and collaboration with QA/QC teams
• Application monitoring, performance analysis, and production troubleshooting
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to advise leadership and government clients
• Preferred: Java, XML, HTML, JavaScript, BPEL, PHP, or WebLogic
