Senior Computer Network Engineer | Lorton, VA, United States | Hybrid | $131,300.00 - $237,350.00

This employer is a leading technology solutions provider for government and commercial clients, recognized for driving innovative digital and mission advancements. They are seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer to spearhead enterprise network engineering services for a critical program supporting the Air Force. The Role

  • Provide technical leadership to a team of network engineers in designing, implementing, and supporting complex network infrastructures within Department of Defense (DoD) environments.
  • Oversee Network Operations Center (NOC) functions to ensure the high availability, security, and rapid incident response for critical customer networks.
  • Develop detailed network designs and architectures that strictly adhere to DoD standards and security mandates.
  • Collaborate with procurement and technical teams to source appropriate network hardware and software, and oversee their installation and configuration, including routers, switches, firewalls, and servers.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing of network systems to verify functionality, performance, and security compliance, and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all network configurations, installations, and changes, including network diagrams.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of experience or Master’s degree with 10+ years of experience in network engineering.
  • Expert knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs), routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Proven experience with enterprise network design principles, hybrid cloud architectures (especially with Azure), and OSI Layers 1-4 security standards.
  • Hands-on experience in the installation and configuration of physical networking equipment, LANs, and the design/deployment of WANs using VPN technologies.
  • Familiarity with network management and troubleshooting tools (ICMP, SNMPv3, Syslog) and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • US Citizen with an active Top Secret clearance and the ability to obtain SCI prior to start.
