Job Description

Systems Engineer - Portsmouth

Up to 80ph 6-Month Contract (Likely Extension) Inside IR35

We're hiring for a SCOF Systems Engineer to join our client in Portsmouth, supporting the delivery of military satellite communications ground control systems. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex and forward-looking aerospace and defence programmes, contributing to the development, integration and support of critical satellite communication capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

As a SCOF Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of Ground Control Systems, supporting requirements analysis, traceability and verification activities. You'll be involved in system architecture definition, integration, verification, validation and testing activities, whilst managing technical issues, non-conformances and observations throughout the project lifecycle. The SCOF Systems Engineer will also support planning, scheduling and cost activities, provide progress updates to stakeholders, contribute technical expertise to proposals and bids, and work closely with customers, partners and engineering teams to ensure successful programme delivery.

Requirements

Essential

  • Systems of Systems or large-scale integration experience.
  • Experience engaging with customers and external partners.
  • Working understanding of satellite control systems.
  • Experience in requirements analysis, traceability and verification.
  • Ability to support integration, verification, validation and testing activities.
  • Eligible to hold SC clearance and the ability to achieve DV clearance.

Desirable

  • University degree or equivalent in a related discipline.
  • Experience within Defence or Aerospace environments.
  • Ground control or military satellite communications experience.

Benefits

  • Up to 59.81 per hour PAYE / 80.00 per hour Umbrella.
  • 37-hour working week.
  • Hybrid working in Portsmouth (4 days per week onsite).
