12 Months (Contract-to-Hire) Job Description
We are seeking a Cyber Systems Engineer or Principal Cyber Systems Engineer to support mission planning software programs and associated IT material planning activities in Manhattan Beach, California. This role combines cybersecurity engineering responsibilities with IT procurement, Bill of Materials (BOM) development, and cross-functional coordination to support both program execution and proposal efforts.

Key responsibilities include: • Design, implement, and assess cybersecurity controls and processes in compliance with NIST and DoD standards. • Support software deployment, hardware/software integration, troubleshooting, and technical solution development. • Configure and maintain Linux and Windows environments in accordance with DoD STIG requirements. • Collaborate with software development and cybersecurity teams in an Agile environment. • Work with customer ISSMs and ISSOs to obtain and maintain authorization for operational environments, including ATO and IATT requirements. • Develop, manage, and maintain IT material requirements and BOMs for programs and proposals. • Coordinate procurement requirements with Global Supply Chain teams, suppliers, pricing analysts, and program management organizations.

Required Skills • Active DoD Top Secret clearance, adjudicated within the last five years or under continuous evaluation. ◦ Ability to obtain a Top Secret SAP clearance.

Cyber Systems Engineer: ◦ Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline with 2+ years of experience; or ◦ Master's degree with no experience required.

Principal Cyber Systems Engineer: ◦ Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience; or ◦ Master's degree with 3+ years of experience. Experience with: ◦ Hardware/software integration, testing, and troubleshooting. ◦ Linux and/or Windows administration. ◦ DoD security compliance requirements. ◦ IT material planning, BOM development, and procurement coordination.

Cybersecurity & Compliance • Cybersecurity engineering and information security experience. • Design and implementation of security controls aligned with: ◦ NIST SP 800-53 ◦ CNSSI 1253 ◦ DoD security requirements ◦ ATO/IATT authorization environments • Vulnerability assessment and security compliance experience. • Firewall and network security knowledge. • DoD STIG implementation and maintenance experience.

Systems Administration & Integration • Linux and/or Windows system deployment, administration, and troubleshooting. • Hardware/software integration, testing, and field support experience. • Experience working with COTS technologies and CI/CD development environments. • Support of restricted program software development lifecycles.

Mission Planning Systems
Experience with one or more of the following: • Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) • AFMSS • PFPS Cloud Technologies • Experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure environments. • Cloud system design, integration, maintenance, and retirement experience. Agile Development • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. • Ability to collaborate effectively with software engineering and cybersecurity teams.

Certifications • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 certification. • Preferred professional certifications: ◦ CISSP ◦ CSSP (Information Security Engineer) Technical & Business Skills • IT material requirements and BOM development. • Procurement planning and supplier coordination. • Proposal support experience. • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.

This role supports the development, deployment, security, and sustainment of mission planning software and related infrastructure used by defense customers. The position is critical to ensuring systems remain secure, compliant, operationally ready, and properly resourced through effective cybersecurity engineering and IT material planning.

Success in this role contributes directly to program execution, customer acceptance, and mission readiness.
