Quick Overview
Job Description
Process Engineer | Permanent | Tayside | circa £48k
A specialist engineering business near Tayside is hiring a Process Engineer to develop and improve the procedures used to bring complex, high precision components back into service.
This is a role for someone who thinks in process rather than just in parts. You will work from engineering documentation, drawings and OEM data to write clear, workable procedures covering NDT requirements, inspection criteria and rework specifications. If you come from a machine shop background and have since moved into process design, or you already work in a technical documentation or process role, this will feel like familiar territory with more scope to make an impact.
You will be joining a technically capable engineering team working on projects that genuinely test your problem solving. The business invests in its people, offers a stable, well established environment and gives engineers real ownership over how work gets done, not just what gets done.
What you will be doing:
- Developing and maintaining technical procedures, including NDT, inspection and rework specifications
- Reading and interpreting engineering documentation, drawings and GD&T
- Planning and estimating work scopes for individual projects
- Driving continuous improvement and implementing new processes
- Producing and maintaining engineering documentation and supporting tooling design
- Working closely with quality, operations, logistics and purchasing to keep projects on track
What you will bring:
- A background in manufacturing, process or design engineering, ideally with a rework or reconditioning focus
- Knowledge of metallurgy or materials science
- Experience creating and maintaining engineering documentation
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to manage multiple work scopes at once
- Good working knowledge of CAD and MS Office
- A relevant qualification in an engineering discipline such as mechanical, aeronautical or manufacturing engineering
You must be eligible to work in the UK to apply.
