Position Description: JTEC Consulting is actively seeking a versatile Mid-Senior UI/UX Developer to bridge the gap between human-centered design and front-end engineering. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the visual identity and user experience of our digital products from discovery through deployment. The UI/UX Developer will lead user research initiatives, translate customer insights into high-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes, and bring those concepts to life using modern web technologies like React, Next.js, and TypeScript.

Working closely with Product Managers and Engineering teams, you will champion design consistency, accessibility, and intuitive interactions across our entire product ecosystem. A current security clearance with agency-specific polygraph is strictly required for consideration.

Key Responsibilities (Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:) User Research and Experience Design

• Conduct user research, contextual inquiries, and usability testing to uncover customer needs, pain points, and behavioral patterns.
• Synthesize research findings into actionable artifacts, including user journeys, personas, site maps, and user flows.
• Create low-to-high fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes to test concepts and validate product hypotheses early Front-End Development and Implementation
• Build, maintain, and optimize responsive web applications using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and modern CSS architectures.
• Translate design tokens and component libraries into clean, modular, and maintainable front-end code.
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility, seamless performance, and consistent behavior across mobile, tablet, and desktop viewports. Design Systems and Visual Consistency
• Apply principles of color theory, typography, spacing, and grid systems to build aesthetically refined and cohesive user interfaces.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to establish and evolve scalable design systems and reusable UI component libraries.
• Advocate for accessibility best practices to guarantee our interfaces are usable and inclusive for all audiences. Collaboration and Delivery
• Partner with Product Managers to define technical and design requirements within an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Work alongside back-end engineers to integrate RESTful APIs and ensure seamless front-end state management.
• Participate in design critiques and code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain high-quality standards across both disciplines.

Education and Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship
• Current TS/SCI with agency-specific polygraph required for consideration
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline (equivalent years of direct experience considered in lieu of a degree)
• Mid-Level 5+ years of related experience, Senior-Level 8+ years of related experience
• Effective written and verbal communication skills to support a collaborative, cross-functional team Technical Requirements:
• Front-End Development: Strong proficiency in core web technologies: JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, and modern CSS3/SCSS.
• Modern Frameworks: Hands-on experience building web applications using React and Next.js.
• UX/UI Design Foundation: Solid understanding of foundational visual design principles, including grid systems, responsive layouts, typography, and color theory.
• Design and Discovery: Demonstrated experience conducting user research, developing user flows, and wireframing interface solutions.
• Component-Driven Development: Experience creating reusable, component-based architectures that balance aesthetic fidelity with code performance.
• Demonstrated Experience: Hands-on technical experience showcasing both design execution (case studies, wireframes, prototypes) and functional front-end code.

Preferred Qualifications

• Design and Prototyping Tools: Advanced proficiency with industry-standard design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
• Accessibility and Section 508: Understanding of WCAG 2.1/2.2 standards, semantic HTML, and ARIA attributes.
• Design Systems: Direct experience creating, documenting, and maintaining design tokens and enterprise design systems (e.g., Storybook).
• Motion and Interactions: Familiarity with micro-interactions, transitions, and web animation libraries (e.g., Framer Motion, CSS animations).
• Methodologies: Experience working in iterative Agile/Scrum environments alongside cross-functional squads.

The estimated salary range displayed in this posting is dependent upon position requirements, individual qualifications, education, experience, location, and other job-related factors. Our recruiting team will review candidates' related experience and desired salary targets during the evaluation process. All qualified candidates will be considered.

Pay Range: $155,000 - $185,000 per year
