Job Description

Please note that this is a 12 Month Contract position and is On-Site. No Corp to Corp or H-1B.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on automation experience.

  • Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting PLCs, preferably using CODESYS (IEC 61131-3) as the standard.

  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley (AB) or Beckhoff PLCs preferred.

  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, EtherCAT, Modbus, or OPC-UA.

  • Knowledge of servo motors, multi-axis motion systems, and industrial robot programming, preferably Epson.

  • Familiarity with machine vision systems, preferably Cognex or Keyence.

  • Ability to read, create, and modify electrical schematics, I/O lists, and control panel layouts using CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks.

  • Hands-on experience with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), field commissioning, code revision, and root-cause error analysis.

  • Experience configuring Human-Machine Interface (HMI) screens and operator panels for real-time machine monitoring and interactive control.

  • Knowledge of industrial safety regulations and risk assessment guidelines, such as OSHA, NFPA 70E, or ISO/IEC safety integrity levels.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and technical documentation skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with mechanical and manufacturing engineering teams.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience programming vision algorithms for Keyence or Cognex.

  • Experience designing electrical control cabinets.

  • Experience programming Epson industrial robots.

  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley or Beckhoff PLCs.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Controls Engineer will develop and support software for automated assembly machines used in fiber optic production. This role requires hands-on experience with PLC programming, machine automation controls, motion systems, industrial communications, and commissioning. The engineer will work closely with mechanical and manufacturing engineering teams to develop, test, troubleshoot, and improve automated equipment.

Machine & Automation Controls Development

  • Develop software for automated assembly machines for fiber optic production.

  • Work with servo motors, multi-axis motion systems, and industrial robot programming, preferably Epson.

  • Support machine vision systems, preferably Cognex or Keyence.

  • Read, create, and modify electrical schematics, I/O lists, and control panel layouts using CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks.

  • Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), field commissioning, code revisions, and root-cause error analysis.

  • Configure HMI screens and operator panels for real-time machine monitoring and interactive control.

  • Apply strong problem-solving skills and maintain technical documentation.

  • Collaborate with mechanical and manufacturing engineering teams.

PLC PROGRAMMING & INDUSTRIAL COMMUNICATIONS

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
