Senior Data Engineer / Snowflake Developer – Python, Snowflake, Cortex AI & dbt

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer with strong expertise in Python, Snowflake, dbt (Data Build Tool), and Snowflake Cortex AI. The candidate will be responsible for developing scalable data pipelines, building and optimizing data transformation workflows, implementing AI-powered data solutions, and delivering reliable, high-quality data products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and Snowflake.

• Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and Snowflake tasks.

• Build and maintain data transformation models using dbt, including staging, intermediate, and mart layers.

• Implement dbt tests, documentation, snapshots, incremental models, and reusable macros.

• Work with Snowflake Cortex AI capabilities to develop AI-powered data applications, including text summarization, classification, sentiment analysis, and information extraction.

• Develop Cortex-based solutions using LLM functions, Cortex Search, and Cortex Analyst, as applicable.

• Use Python libraries such as Pandas and NumPy for data processing and automation.

• Implement data quality checks, reconciliation, monitoring, and error-handling mechanisms.

• Optimize Snowflake query performance, warehouse utilization, and compute costs.

• Implement CI/CD pipelines and version control using Git and deployment tools.

• Collaborate with business analysts, data architects, data scientists, and application teams.

• Follow data governance, security, access control, and best practices for handling sensitive data.

• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure reliable data pipeline execution.

Required Technical Skills

• Python: Functions, OOP, Pandas, exception handling, APIs, automation, and scripting.

• Snowflake: Advanced SQL, warehouses, stages, streams, tasks, Snowpipe, Time Travel, and performance tuning.

• Snowflake Cortex AI: LLM functions, Cortex Search, Cortex Analyst, AI-powered data processing, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), where applicable.

• dbt: Models, sources, tests, snapshots, macros, incremental loads, seeds, documentation, and Jinja.

• Data Engineering: ETL/ELT, dimensional modeling, data warehousing, and pipeline orchestration.

• DevOps: Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and deployment practices.

• Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform experience is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• 4–8 years of experience in data engineering or data warehousing.

• Hands-on experience with Python, SQL, Snowflake, and dbt.

• Practical exposure to Snowflake Cortex AI and generative AI solutions.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
