Job Description

The Cleaning Clerk is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, orderly, and safe environment throughout the manufacturing facility. This position performs routine and scheduled cleaning and housekeeping duties in production areas, offices, restrooms, break rooms, and other designated areas. The Cleaning Clerk is expected to follow established safety procedures, properly operate cleaning equipment, and maintain compliance with company policies and applicable workplace safety requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping duties throughout the manufacturing facility and designated areas.

Clean and maintain production areas, offices, restrooms, break rooms, employee common areas, and other assigned spaces.

Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and otherwise clean floors, surfaces, fixtures, and equipment as appropriate.

Collect, remove, and properly dispose of general waste, recyclable materials, and manufacturing debris in accordance with established procedures.

Safely remove metal dust, shavings, and other debris from designated work areas.

Maintain floors, walkways, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition to minimize potential safety hazards.

Operate cleaning equipment, tools, and machinery in accordance with established operating procedures and safety guidelines.

Properly use, store, and handle cleaning chemicals and supplies in accordance with manufacturer instructions and company requirements.

Maintain adequate inventory of cleaning and sanitation supplies and notify the appropriate supervisor when replenishment is required.

Identify and promptly report spills, unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, or other potential workplace hazards.

Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

Perform scheduled deep-cleaning and special housekeeping assignments as directed.

Maintain a professional and courteous manner when interacting with employees, visitors, contractors, and management.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous experience in industrial cleaning, janitorial services, housekeeping, or a manufacturing environment preferred.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established procedures.

Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and properly handle cleaning products.

Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively prioritizing assigned responsibilities.

Ability to work cooperatively with production, maintenance, and other facility personnel.

Must be able to work in an industrial manufacturing environment and comply with all required safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Physical Requirements

 The position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly perform activities including bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, and lifting. The employee must be able to safely perform the physical requirements associated with routine cleaning and housekeeping duties.

Work Environment

 Work is performed primarily within a metal manufacturing facility. The work environment may include exposure to industrial noise, dust, metal shavings and debris, cleaning chemicals, moving equipment, and varying temperatures. Employees are required to follow all applicable safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.

 

Safety and Compliance

 The Cleaning Clerk is responsible for performing all duties in a manner consistent with company safety policies, applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements, and established facility procedures. Employees are expected to immediately report unsafe conditions, injuries, spills, and other workplace concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
