Job description

About the Role

Join a California legal practice advising homeowner associations on governance, real estate, and related disputes. This role combines litigation and transactional work, with responsibility for providing responsive counsel and independently managing a caseload.

What You'll Do

  • Advise HOA boards and community managers for condominium, townhouse, cooperative, and planned development communities.

  • Handle civil matters involving real estate disputes, construction defects, creditor-side bankruptcy, and judgment collections.

  • Draft and review governance opinions, board resolutions, formation documents, bylaws, and real estate documents.

  • Advise clients on the Davis-Stirling Act, governing documents, and community association governance.

  • Respond to client inquiries within 24 hours and manage your caseload independently.

  • Contribute to marketing through published articles and presentations at industry events.

What We're Looking For

  • 3 to 7 years of concentrated litigation or transactional legal experience, including civil litigation work such as motions, discovery, or trial preparation.

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active membership in the California State Bar.

  • Background in corporate governance or real estate law, with strong legal writing and client service skills.

  • Comfort using legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis, Microsoft Office, and legal case management software.

  • Ability to work autonomously, respond promptly, take feedback, and meet an annual 1,800 billable-hour expectation.

  • HOA or community association law, Davis-Stirling Act, CC&Rs, creditor-side bankruptcy, collections, or construction defect experience is beneficial.
