We are looking for an experienced Finastra GPP Payments Platform Technical Architect with strong global payments expertise to lead solution architecture, platform design, modernization, integration, and implementation across enterprise payments ecosystems. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of Finastra payment platforms, cross-border payments, real-time payments, payment processing flows, financial messaging, and enterprise banking architecture.
Required Skills and Experience
- 12+ years of overall IT experience, with strong hands-on background in banking, payments, or financial services technology.
- 5+ years of architecture experience in payment platforms, payment hubs, or enterprise payments transformation programs.
- Strong working knowledge of Finastra payments solutions and implementation architecture; experience with Finastra Global PAYplus, PAYplus, Payment Hub, or related Finastra payments products is preferred.
- Deep understanding of global payments processing, clearing and settlement, payment lifecycle, exception handling, investigations, liquidity, and reconciliation.
- Experience with ISO 20022, SWIFT MT/MX, Fedwire, CHIPS, SEPA, RTP, ACH, wire transfers, cross-border payments, and regional payment schemes.
- Strong technical architecture experience across APIs, microservices, Java/Spring, integration middleware, messaging platforms such as Kafka, IBM MQ or ActiveMQ, and databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.
- Experience designing highly available, secure, scalable, and resilient payment systems with strong non-functional controls.
- Good understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, Kubernetes, cloud deployment patterns, monitoring, logging, and infrastructure considerations.
- Strong knowledge of payment security, encryption, authentication, authorization, key management, audit, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder management, technical documentation, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience leading Finastra payments implementations for large global banks or financial institutions.
- Exposure to payment modernization, payment hub consolidation, cloud migration, or legacy platform transformation programs.
- Experience working with distributed global delivery teams and vendor/platform product teams.
- Knowledge of treasury services, corporate banking payments, real-time liquidity, embedded payments, and API-based payment initiation.
- Architecture certification or cloud certification is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the end-to-end technical architecture for Finastra payments platform implementations, upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
- Lead solution design for global payments, including high-value payments, cross-border payments, real-time payments, ACH, wire transfers, SWIFT/ISO 20022 messaging, and payment orchestration.
- Partner with business, product, technology, infrastructure, security, operations, and vendor teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Design integration patterns across core banking, channels, payment hubs, sanctions screening, fraud, liquidity, treasury, reconciliation, reporting, and downstream enterprise systems.
- Provide architectural guidance on microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture, messaging, cloud/on-prem deployment, performance, resiliency, observability, and security.
- Review and validate technical designs, interface specifications, data mappings, non-functional requirements, and deployment architecture.
- Support modernization initiatives, platform consolidation, regulatory changes, payment scheme enhancements, and ISO 20022 adoption.
- Guide development and integration teams on best practices, design standards, reusable components, and technical governance.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and design gaps early, and recommend practical mitigation approaches.
- Act as the senior technical point of contact for client stakeholders, delivery teams, and Finastra/vendor teams.
