Job Statement

Genesis Minerals is currently seeking an experienced Alternate Open Pit Manager to join our new Tower Hill Project, a long-life asset that is driving significant momentum across the business and the wider industry. The primary purpose of this role is to oversee and manage the Technical Services functions, including Engineering and Survey, ensuring the effective development, optimisation and reporting of the Mine Plan. The role will be responsible for budget oversight, project development, site support, and maintaining technical governance and compliance standards across the operation. In addition, the role will provide Open Pit Manager and Quarry Manager coverage when required, as well as production and execution guidance to the site Operations team. This is a permanent opportunity, working a 4 days on, 3 days off with 8 days on, 6 days off roster rotations as required to alternate between panels. The role can be FIFO from Perth, DIDO from Kalgoorlie, or residential in Leonora.

The opportunity

Lead the Technical Services strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, budgets and operational priorities. Develop, review and execute short- and medium-term Mine Plans to optimise production, operational and capital performance. Provide technical leadership across mine planning, engineering, survey, drill and blast, mine design, geotechnical and environmental management. Ensure technical governance, regulatory and Management Plan compliance, proactively identifying and mitigating operational and technical risks. Provide visible, hands-on leadership and technical guidance to Operations and Technical Services teams, driving best practice and effective execution. Lead, mentor and develop the Technical Services team, fostering collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement. Manage technical budgets, resources, equipment and systems, ensuring cost-effective and fit-for-purpose delivery. Drive continuous improvement, innovation and technology adoption to enhance safety, productivity, efficiency and profitability.

What we will expect from you
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline Quarry Manager's Certificate
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the mining industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Sound knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to mining
  • Technical expertise in relation to Open Pit mine design, drill and blast, optimisation and planning.
  • A collaborative approach to working with differing departments to achieve the common goals
  • Proficiency in mining software (e.g., Surpac, Deswik, Datamine), strong knowledge of Drill and Blast design work, Proven experience of leading and developing a technical team, with strong mentoring and coaching abilities.
