Active Secret clearance required
Must be able to obtain T5 investigation
DoD 8570 cert (IAT Level 2) required
Vendor does not need to complete background check or drug screening What the environment / Sell:
Mission‑critical DoD aviation system used globally
Supports USN and USMC readiness
Long-term stability
High-impact engineering; modernizing maintenance and asset visibility systems
Mix of modernization + sustaining engineering
Opportunity to pick up niche skills (PowerBuilder, SAP ASE, DISA STIGs) Dress Code:
Business casual / DoD facility norms
Notes:
Local preferred; remote only after failing to find local match
PowerBuilder exposure is rare and highly valued
Technical documentation and DoD process familiarity required
Must Haves (Simplified)
Active Secret clearance + ability to obtain T5
DoD 8570 IAT Level II cert (Security+, Network+, CISSP, etc.)
5+ years professional software engineering experience
Experience with DoD or DoN systems
Experience writing technical documentation
Relational DB experience, ideally SAP ASE + Replication Server
Scripting: Perl, batch, iSQL, PowerShell, AutoIt, Apache Ant XML
Experience with Java, JBoss, or PowerBuilder (even light exposure)
Knowledge of DISA STIGs, secure coding, vulnerability research
Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V)
Strong troubleshooting experience for complex deployed systems
US Citizenship
Pluses
Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
VMware ThinApp experience
Experience with aviation maintenance, logistics, supply systems
Prior experience with OOMA or naval aviation maintenance environments
Education Requirements / Experience in Lieu Of
Computer Science or Engineering degree preferred
Other degrees accepted
Advanced degree = plus
Day to Day Responsibilities
Approximate breakdown (based on notes + responsibilities list):
40%: Design, develop, test, and maintain OOMA software
20%: Troubleshooting production/deployed system issues
15%: Technical documentation (white papers, admin guides)
15%: Security hardening, STIG compliance, vulnerability analysis
10%: Collaboration in Agile ceremonies + cross-functional coordination
Additional context:
Mix of new development + enhancement of existing systems
Training/onboarding is onsite for ~1 month
