Job Title: SENCO
Location: Miller House School, Stoneygate, Leicester LE2 2NB
Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday
Salary: £46,000 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: January 2027

About the Role
Are you passionate about helping every student reach their full potential? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO to join our growing school community. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop SEND provision across the school, working closely with senior leaders, pastoral teams, clinicians, families and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for our students.
Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee the strategic and operational delivery of SEND provision, ensuring high-quality support, statutory compliance and effective interventions that remove barriers to learning. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in shaping inclusive practice, developing provision within our evolving school, and making a lasting difference to the lives of students with SEND.
What you will be doing
- Leading and developing the school's SEND strategy, policy and provision.
- Coordinating effective support for students with SEND and monitoring its impact.
- Managing EHCP annual reviews, tracking targets and ensuring statutory compliance.
- Acting as the key point of contact for parents, carers, local authorities and external agencies.
- Analysing student data to inform provision planning and improve outcomes.
- Supporting staff through advice, guidance and training on effective SEND practice.
- Working collaboratively with pastoral, clinical and curriculum teams to deliver holistic support.
- Leading on Personal Education Plans (PEPs) and acting as Designated Teacher for Looked After Children.
- Contributing to whole-school improvement planning, inclusion initiatives and leadership discussions.
- Promoting a culture where every student feels valued, supported and able to achieve their full potential.
What you will bring
- QTS or QTLS qualification required.
- National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete within three years).
- Experience working with students with SEND, ideally across a whole-school setting.
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and annual review processes.
- Experience of EHCPs, interventions and provision planning.
- The ability to analyse data and use it to drive improvements and positive outcomes.
- Understanding of PEPs, looked after children and multi-agency working.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
- Thrive practitioner qualified or willing to train as Thrive Practitioner in the next 3 years or appointment.
- Driving licence required
About Us
Miller House School is a brand-new school located in Stoneygate, Leicester. The school opened in September 2025, has a capacity of 80 students, and offers a co-educational provision for students with complex needs, including SEMH.
Miller House School is a specialist SEMH setting for young people aged 11–16. We are committed to supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, as well as autism and ADHD. Our safe and nurturing environment ensures every child is heard, seen, and supported to thrive.
At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer. We support students with a wide range of complex, co-occurring and neurodivergent needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and communication needs, dyslexia and experiences of trauma or adversity.
