Job Description

Location: Milton Keynes - hybrid working (3 days per week in the office)

We are looking for an experienced IT Continuity/Disaster Recovery professional with proven expertise in Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery and Operational Resilience. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience developing, implementing and testing continuity and disaster recovery plans, together with a strong understanding of resilience standards, legislation and industry best practice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, implementing and monitoring resilience strategies and processes, using KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Acting as the subject matter expert, providing specialist resilience advice to senior leadership.
  • Leading Business Impact Analyses (BIA), contingency planning and wider resilience activities.
  • Developing, maintaining and continuously improving Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery processes.
  • Creating and delivering resilience testing and exercise programmes, providing assurance to leadership teams on organisational preparedness.
  • Reviewing regulatory, legal and governance requirements, ensuring compliance and providing assurance across the function.
  • Building relationships with external stakeholders, including the wider rail industry, regulators and government organisations.
  • Promoting resilience across the business, influencing stakeholders and embedding best practice into operational processes.
  • Reviewing technical solutions and resilience plans, producing recommendations to improve organisational resilience.
  • Managing third-party suppliers to ensure critical services remain resilient and identifying mitigation strategies where risks are identified.

Resilience covers Operational Resilience, Business Continuity and Crisis Management.

Key criteria:

  • Proven experience in one or more resilience disciplines, including Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Incident Management or Emergency Planning.
  • Demonstrable experience of IT Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning, testing and exercising.
  • Knowledge of technologies and tools used for continuity planning and execution.
  • Strong understanding of resilience standards, legislation and best practice.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (eg AMBCI).
  • ISO 22301 Lead Auditor qualification.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands and deliver in a fast-paced, safety-critical, technology-driven environment.
