Job Description

Morgan McKinley are currently recruiting for a Management Accountant to join an established and growing business based in Guildford. Reporting into the Finance Director, this is a great opportunity to take ownership of key areas of the day-to-day finance function and month-end processes.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, while also supporting management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and year-end audit activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of allocated areas of the month-end and year-end close, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules, working closely with the Finance Director.
  • Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and depreciation.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate outstanding or unreconciled balances.
  • Review Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, including control accounts and open items.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and complete relevant reconciliations.
  • Complete bank reconciliations and investigate unmatched transactions.
  • Support VAT accounting and reconciliation.
  • Assist with P&L and variance analysis, investigating significant movements.
  • Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Provide financial information and analysis to the Finance Director and wider business.
  • Support year-end close and external audit requirements.
  • Assist with wider accounting, reporting and finance activities as required.
About you:
  • Studying towards ACCA/CIMA qualifications; or AAT qualified.
  • Previous experience in a Management Accountant, Financial Accountant or similar role, ideally experience ownership of producing management accounts.
  • Ability to commute into offices daily during probation period (there is opportunity of flexible working). You will need a driving licence due to the companies' offices.
