Job Summary

We are seeking a Field Supervisor – Field Technicians to provide day-to-day leadership and support to an assigned team of field technicians while also performing billable field observation and testing. This role works closely with the Field Operations Manager, Project Managers, and Dispatch to ensure field assignments are completed safely, accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

The Field Supervisor will serve as a resource and first point of contact for technicians, providing coaching, monitoring work quality and documentation, coordinating field coverage, and helping resolve routine field issues.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform field observation and testing while maintaining proficiency in applicable testing procedures and standards.

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to assigned field technicians.

  • Coordinate daily field coverage with Dispatch and the Field Operations Manager and communicate staffing or scheduling changes.

  • Monitor technician attendance, productivity, professionalism, work quality, and readiness for assignments.

  • Review field reports, test data, photographs, time entries, and other documentation for accuracy and completeness.

  • Conduct field check-ins and site visits to observe performance, reinforce procedures, and provide hands-on training.

  • Communicate with Project Managers regarding field activities, testing results, schedule changes, and issues requiring attention.

  • Help ensure technicians have the appropriate equipment, paperwork, certifications, supplies, and PPE for their assignments.

  • Support onboarding and training of new technicians and help employees progress toward required certifications.

  • Participate in quality-control and safety meetings and reinforce company policies, technical standards, and lessons learned.

  • Address routine employee and project issues and escalate safety, client, personnel, or technical concerns when appropriate.

  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, professionalism, and excellent client service.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.

  • 3+ years of construction materials testing or field technician experience preferred.

  • Previous leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Current certifications applicable to the testing performed, or the ability to obtain required certifications.

  • Knowledge of field testing procedures, construction-site practices, documentation requirements, and quality-control standards.

  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to prioritize work, coach and develop employees, and recognize when issues require escalation.

  • Ability to work effectively with Dispatch, Project Managers, inspectors, laboratory staff, contractors, clients, and other field personnel.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn field reporting, scheduling, timekeeping, and project-management systems.

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
