Job Title: AI Apprentice/AI/ML Engineer

Location: Austin, TX
Duration: 12 Months
Job Type: Contract
Work Arrangement: Onsite – 4–5 Days/Week
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Job Description

We are seeking an AI Apprentice to support an AI Apprenticeship Program focused on developing entry-level AI talent and supporting enterprise AI initiatives.

The selected candidate will work under supervision and assist with AI/ML research, proof-of-concept development, data analysis, AI pipelines, governance, documentation, and emerging technology evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Research and evaluate emerging AI trends, tools, technologies, and vendor solutions.
  • Assist in developing AI/ML models and prototype applications.
  • Create proofs of concept (POCs) and pilots for AI and automation use cases.
  • Assist with data and AI pipeline development and documentation.
  • Perform data analysis, research, and basic model development.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, documentation, and analysis.
  • Support AI governance, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.
  • Evaluate vendor AI capabilities and emerging AI technologies.
  • Assist with maintaining and supporting AI applications.
  • Collaborate with data, engineering, software development, and governance teams.
  • Support AI modernization and automation initiatives.
  • Assist with enterprise application administration.

Required Skills

  • 1–3 years of academic, internship, or entry-level experience in AI, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Python.
  • Familiarity with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
  • Experience with Git, GitHub, or other version control systems.
  • Exposure to data analysis, data migration, and basic model development.
  • Understanding of basic software development and testing concepts.
  • Coursework toward or completion of a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Applied Analytics.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with data pipelines such as Airflow, Prefect, or cloud-native equivalents.
  • Understanding of REST APIs and serverless architecture.
  • Exposure to AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, OCI, or other cloud platforms/AI services.
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerization.
  • Understanding of CI/CD fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and model versioning concepts.

Location Requirement

This is an onsite position in Austin, TX, requiring 4–5 days per week onsite. Candidates must currently reside in the Austin area.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
