Position Summary

The Applications Solution Architect for Customer Onboarding translates Client business needs, product priorities, and enterprise architecture direction into practical, end-to-end solution designs that enable consistent, scalable, and connected customer onboarding across Client retail and wholesale channels. The role focuses on the application capabilities, workflows, integrations, and customer experiences required to onboard, activate, and support customers from initial engagement through operational handoff. The architect defines solution-level architecture for customer and account data, onboarding workflows, integrations, APIs, event streaming, security, controls, and operational processes. This role partners with business stakeholders, product owners, technical leads, engineers, data, security, infrastructure, and operations teams to create connected onboarding experiences while enabling appropriate business-line flexibility and reducing unnecessary manual handoffs, duplicate capabilities, fragmented workflows, and inconsistent customer information.

This role requires experience designing and integrating cloud-based solutions using AWS, Confluent Cloud, PostgreSQL, SAP Master Data Governance (MDG), Snowflake, and API-led integration patterns.

Responsibilities:

• Translate onboarding business capabilities, process needs, product requirements, and strategic priorities into end-to-end application and technology solution architectures.


• Design scalable onboarding solutions that support Client retail and wholesale business models, channels, and customer segments.


• Define customer and user journeys, solution context, architecture diagrams, component interactions, data flows, integration patterns, event flows, and technology recommendations.


• Document design decisions, assumptions, dependencies, constraints, risks, and trade-offs. Ensure alignment to enterprise principles, target-state architecture, technology standards, and governance guardrails.


• Design secure, scalable, and supportable cloud-based solution architectures using AWS services and enterprise application platforms.


• Identify opportunities to simplify, modernize, reuse, retire, or rationalize applications and technical capabilities supporting customer onboarding and go-to-market processes while balancing enterprise consistency with business-line needs.


• Architect capabilities across the onboarding lifecycle, including engagement, customer and account setup, validation, activation, service enablement, and operational handoff, connecting customer-facing experiences with back-office systems.


• Reduce manual handoffs, duplicate data entry, disconnected workflows, and inconsistent customer or account information through reusable solution and integration patterns.


• Enable visibility into onboarding status, workflow handoffs, approvals, exceptions, and follow-up activities.


• Design and govern integrations, APIs, event flows, middleware, and data-exchange patterns. Define API-led patterns covering security, authentication and authorization, versioning, lifecycle, error handling, monitoring, and supportability.


• Design event-driven integrations using Confluent Cloud and Apache Kafka to enable reliable, scalable exchange of onboarding events and status changes.


• Define integration approaches across customer-facing applications, back-office systems, SAP MDG, PostgreSQL, AWS services, Snowflake, and other platforms with governed customer and account data exchange.


• Partner with SAP MDG stakeholders to represent master-data processes, governance, and integration dependencies in designs. Define PostgreSQL patterns for data access, persistence, and performance supporting onboarding workflows.


• Define Snowflake integration and data-sharing patterns to enable governed access for operational reporting, analytics, and approved downstream needs. Identify data dependencies, ownership, data-quality risks, and constraints.


• Define and validate non-functional requirements including security, availability, reliability, performance, scalability, maintainability, observability, resilience, and recoverability with operational readiness and controls.


• Establish logging, monitoring, alerting, and support approaches across APIs, event streams, AWS services, and databases. Partner with support teams for transition to sustainable operations.


• Collaborate with Product Owners and Technical Leads to translate designs into implementation plans, backlogs, and technical tasks. Provide guidance through delivery, resolve design issues, and participate in reviews.


• Ensure decisions are documented and traceable via journeys, diagrams, data flows, API and event designs, integration specifications, and decision records. Support feedback loops to improve patterns and standards.


• Serve as a trusted advisor across product, business, and technology teams. Facilitate alignment across retail and wholesale channels, cloud services, APIs, streaming platforms, data platforms, SAP MDG, security, and operations. Communicate trade-offs and risks in business-relevant language.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.


• Significant experience in application development, systems analysis, technical leadership, or solution architecture with end-to-end solution design across multiple systems and domains.


• Experience designing solutions for customer, account, order, service, commercial, or onboarding-related processes.


• Proficiency designing secure, scalable cloud architectures using AWS services.


• Hands-on experience with Confluent Cloud and Apache Kafka event-streaming patterns, including event design, integration, reliability, and operations.


• Strong PostgreSQL experience in data modeling, data-access patterns, performance, and operational supportability.


• Advanced API design and governance, including API-led integration, security, versioning, lifecycle, error handling, and monitoring.


• Experience with SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) for customer, business-partner, or account master-data processes and integrations.


• Experience with Snowflake for data integration, governed data exchange, data quality, and support for reporting and analytics.


• Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, workflow, and data flows across application platforms.


• Strong understanding of security, performance, availability, scalability, resilience, and operational support requirements.


• Experience partnering with product management and engineering in Agile or iterative environments with clear architecture artifacts and communication.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience supporting complex customer-facing or commercial applications across multiple business lines, segments, or channels, including retail and wholesale.


• Background with CRM, customer and account data, customer portals, digital commerce, workflow, contracts, pricing, or customer-service platforms.


• Integration experience between SAP MDG and CRM, ERP, workflow, digital channels, or downstream data platforms.


• Designing cloud-native or hybrid architectures using AWS, managed databases, API platforms, and event-driven integration.


• Implementation of data governance, customer-data quality, MDM, or data stewardship practices.


• Familiarity with DevOps, observability, automated deployment pipelines, and modern delivery methods.


• Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, governance, portfolio management, or lifecycle management.


• Relevant certifications in architecture, AWS, Confluent/Kafka, SAP, data platforms, security, or Agile.
