Job description

Healthcare Australia (HCA) is a major provider of healthcare services across Australia, including allied health, primary care, recruitment, NDIS, care services, and training.

In December 2024, we began providing health, mental health, and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our team of nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals offer a range of healthcare services, including health assessments, chronic disease management, health promotion, wound management, immunizations, and other primary health interventions.  HCA also launched a 24/7 Virtual Care Centre (VCC), offering remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations to enhance onsite care for detainees.

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Team Leader – AOD to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team at the Melbourne Immigration Detention Centre.

This is more than a traditional clinical leadership role. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the AOD service, develop your team, influence how care is delivered and drive meaningful improvements across a complex primary healthcare environment.

Working closely with the Health Services Manager and broader multidisciplinary team, you’ll bring strong clinical judgement, a collaborative leadership style and a practical, solutions-focused approach to the delivery of high-quality, person-centred AOD care.

Monday – Friday | 0730am – 1530pm | $4K Sign-On Bonus

What you’ll be doing

You will:

  • Lead the delivery of specialist AOD services, including assessment, withdrawal management, treatment planning, harm reduction and referrals.
  • Provide clinical leadership, mentoring and support to a multidisciplinary team, fostering a positive culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee withdrawal support services and the OOAT Pharmacotherapy Program, ensuring safe, high-quality care.
  • Partner with clinicians and stakeholders to deliver coordinated, person-centred care and achieve positive client outcomes.
  • Lead clinical governance, including case reviews, quality improvement activities, auditing and professional standards.
  • Use your clinical expertise to manage risk, solve complex problems and support effective decision-making.
  • Contribute to service development, identifying opportunities to improve outcomes, processes and models of care.

Let's talk about you

You're an experienced Registered Nurse with unrestricted AHPRA registration and significant expertise in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) services. You will hold a postgraduate qualification in AOD or Mental Health with at least five years' specialist AOD experience, or bring seven or more years of specialist AOD nursing experience. Your expertise includes withdrawal management, pharmacotherapy and trauma-informed care, supported by sound clinical judgement and confident decision-making in complex environments.

The role suits a clinical leader who enjoys providing guidance, building capability in others and leading positive change.
