About the role

We’re looking for a senior technology leader to lead the engineering of MYOB’s customer-facing AI products and turn our AI strategy into real, scalable customer experiences.

You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team spanning AI engineering, data science and software engineering, partnering closely with Product and Design to take agentic AI products from idea through to production. You’ll set the technical direction for how we build AI at MYOB, with accountability for quality, reliability, safety and cost, while building the engineering capability and talent needed for the next phase of our AI journey.

The team have successfully launched a number of new features in the last 12 months, and this role will help us mature to the next level of velocity and innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Own the engineering of MYOB’s agentic AI products from discovery through to production and ongoing operation, translating product strategy into high-quality customer outcomes.
• Define the target technical state for MYOB’s AI products in partnership with the GM, Architecture and engineering teams, guiding key architecture, platform and investment decisions.
• Establish rigorous evaluation frameworks, quality measures and release criteria, balancing accuracy, latency, reliability, safety and cost across production AI services.
• Define how we source, curate and improve the data that powers our AI, using existing data alongside redesigned product experiences and customer feedback loops to continuously improve AI performance.
• Embed responsible AI into architecture and product design, including appropriate human oversight, informed consent, clear scope of agent actions, auditability, reversibility, privacy and security.
• Lead and coach senior technical leaders across AI engineering, data science and software engineering, building strong engineering practices while partnering across Product, Design, Security, Architecture and external AI partners.

What we're looking for

• You’ve built and operated ML, LLM or AI-powered products in production and bring strong underlying software engineering and architecture capability.
• You’ve led senior technical leaders and multidisciplinary engineering teams, and know how to create clarity, accountability and strong technical cultures across multiple teams.
• You understand agentic systems, LLM architecture and the trade-offs between model quality, latency, cost, reliability and safety.
• You’ve used evaluation frameworks, test datasets, experimentation and production measurement to determine what is ready to ship and continuously improve AI products.
• You understand how data sourcing, curation and enhancement, including signals created through product experiences, can improve AI products and create sustainable competitive advantage.
• You’re equally comfortable partnering with Product and Design, shaping technical strategy and getting into the engineering detail, with experience in responsible AI or regulated environments highly regarded.
