Job Description

We are seeking a Specialist – Java/Spring Boot Lead with strong hands-on coding experience to lead the design and development of event-driven transactional microservices on AWS.

This is a hands-on Lead role, not an Architect position. The ideal candidate will establish development frameworks, create project scaffolding, and provide a strong technical foundation for development teams.

The systems will process millions of transactional decisions per day and require strong experience building scalable, reliable, and high-concurrency applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of event-driven transactional microservices.
  • Build development frameworks and project scaffolding for engineering teams.
  • Develop scalable applications using Java 17 and Spring Boot.
  • Design and implement AWS-based solutions using ECS, Aurora PostgreSQL, SQS FIFO, EventBridge, and MSK.
  • Develop high-volume transactional systems with concurrency controls.
  • Collaborate with developers to establish coding standards and best practices.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
  • Troubleshoot performance, reliability, and production issues.

Required Skills

  • 7+ years of hands-on Java/Spring Boot development experience.
  • Strong experience with Java 17 and Spring Boot.
  • Hands-on AWS experience with ECS, Aurora, SQS, and EventBridge.
  • Strong experience building transactional systems and microservices.
  • Experience with Kafka/MSK.
  • Experience with concurrency controls such as advisory locks and optimistic versioning.
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform or AWS CDK.
  • Strong technical leadership and hands-on coding skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Drools Rules Engine.
  • State machine design patterns.
  • Parallel-run validation.
  • Resilience4j.
  • Legacy-to-cloud migration experience.
