Position: Senior Compute & Identity Engineer – Consultant

Location: 100% Remote

Contract: 12+ Months Contract

Job Description:

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, configure, optimize, and support hybrid infrastructure spanning Microsoft Azure, AWS, on-premises compute and hosting, Windows Server, virtualization (VMware vSphere/ESXi), storage, and backup and recovery.
• Design, implement, and support Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune) and endpoint management and device compliance.
• Administer Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory, including identity synchronization, authentication, authorization, and directory services, and integrate identity with Okta and SaaS applications.
• Implement and support SSO, MFA, Conditional Access, and phishing-resistant authentication, and improve Joiner-Mover-Leaver processes, access provisioning and deprovisioning, and identity-related automation.
• Serve as the technical owner for complex infrastructure, M365, and identity incidents, performing hands-on troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and permanent remediation.
• Develop automation using PowerShell or other scripting tools.
• Lead upgrades, migrations, tenant and directory changes, lifecycle refreshes, and modernization efforts, and monitor and improve availability, performance, capacity, backup and disaster recovery, and resilience.
• Apply security-by-design principles and partner with Cybersecurity on infrastructure hardening, identity security, privileged access, access reviews, and Zero Trust initiatives.
• Support infrastructure underlying GxP-regulated applications, laboratory systems, and scientific technology environments, executing changes in accordance with change control, validation, and audit-readiness requirements.
• Maintain accurate architecture diagrams, runbooks, SOPs, configuration standards, and technical documentation to ensure consistent, controlled, and audit-ready operations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise infrastructure, cloud, and identity solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune).
• Strong experience configuring and supporting Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory, including identity lifecycle management, authentication, authorization, federation, and directory services.
• Demonstrated experience implementing SSO, MFA, Conditional Access, and identity synchronization.
• Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure spanning compute and hosting, virtualization (VMware vSphere/ESXi), storage, backup and recovery, and monitoring.
• Experience using PowerShell for infrastructure, identity, and operational automation.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and disciplined documentation practices.
• Experience independently developing technical designs and implementing solutions, not solely coordinating vendors or managing operations teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other regulated (GxP) environments, including working knowledge of computerized system validation, change control, and audit-readiness expectations.
• Experience supporting Okta, identity federation, and enterprise identity and access management solutions.
• Strong knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure and services.
• Strong knowledge Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Identity, VMware, security, or ITIL certifications.
• Working understanding of enterprise networking and secure remote access (LAN/WAN, wireless, firewalls, VPN, ZTNA, segmentation, hybrid-cloud connectivity) sufficient to troubleshoot, support operations, and review vendor recommendations
