Job Description

Akkodis is seeking an Embedded Controls Software Engineer for a Contract with a client in Allen Park, MI (Hybrid). The ideal candidate with experience designing, developing, and validating safety-critical automotive embedded systems, translating system requirements into reliable software solutions.

Rate Range: $44/hour to $50/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Embedded Controls Software Engineer Job Responsibilities include:
  • Design, develop, and validate embedded software for automotive control systems, ensuring compliance with functional, performance, and safety requirements.
  • Develop embedded applications and AUTOSAR software components using C/C++ while supporting integration, debugging, and optimization on target hardware.
  • Create and maintain MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow models for vehicle control features, including simulation, verification, and code generation activities.
  • Conduct SIL, MIL, and HIL testing using tools such as Vector CANoe to verify functionality, reliability, and system performance.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot embedded system issues involving CAN/LIN communication, real-time processing, and hardware-software interactions to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, validation, and vehicle engineering teams throughout the embedded software development lifecycle, from requirements definition through production release.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Embedded Software Development, Embedded Systems Engineering, or Automotive Software Development.
  • Strong expertise in Embedded C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, AUTOSAR, CAN/LIN communication protocols, and the complete embedded software development lifecycle.
  • Proven experience with automotive ECU development, SIL/MIL/HIL testing, Vector CANoe, requirements-based development, debugging real-time embedded systems, and validating software for safety-critical automotive applications.

Pay Details: $44.00 to $50.00 per hour
