IT Infrastructure Engineer

Role Summary

The IT Engineer designs, develops, and supports low-voltage infrastructure across office and laboratory environments. This role collaborates with facilities, networking, hardware, audiovisual, and other technical teams to support effective infrastructure deployment and ongoing operations. The position contributes to infrastructure planning, construction oversight, capacity management, and operational support for IT equipment and network environments.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with facilities teams and business stakeholders to define project requirements and develop estimates, bills of materials, and cost projections.
• Serve as a technical stakeholder during low-voltage contractor bidding and vendor selection activities.
• Design and specify equipment placement within network rooms, including security systems, building automation components, rack configurations, and service demarcation points.
• Develop deployment specifications, technical requirements, and construction documentation for low-voltage infrastructure projects.
• Conduct site inspections, monitor construction progress, and provide technical feedback to support alignment with established requirements and standards.
• Document project closeout activities and coordinate the transition of completed environments to operational teams.
• Track capacity utilization for network ports, fiber infrastructure, power distribution, and related network room resources.
• Support equipment installation, rack integration, and structured cabling activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and inventory records for network room assets using tools such as NetBox, Nautobot, or comparable asset management platforms.
• Develop and maintain low-voltage infrastructure standards, technology roadmaps, and automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in telecommunications consulting, construction project management, low-voltage infrastructure, or related technical disciplines.
• Strong understanding of network architecture, structured cabling, and infrastructure components.
• Ability to perform onsite inspections and work onsite as required by the position.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and lead activities within complex technical environments.
• Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams and stakeholders across multiple time zones.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam Studio, NetBox, Nautobot, or comparable technical and asset management tools is preferred.
• Relevant professional certifications, such as Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), are preferred.
• Experience providing technical guidance to team members and managing vendor or contractor relationships is preferred.

Publishing Pay Range: $48.50 - $52.25 Hourly

This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
