Senior IBM i Systems Engineer in St. Louis
Description We're looking for a Senior Systems Engineer with IBM i (iSeries/AS400) administration experience to join a team that supports a business-critical, high-revenue software platform. You'll design, implement, administer and support enterprise infrastructure, including IBM i environments, Windows and Linux servers, cloud technologies, virtualization platforms, storage solutions and network services. You'll play a key role in keeping critical systems available, secure, high-performing and resilient so they can support enterprise operations and business goals.
Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and optimize IBM i (iSeries/AS400) systems for performance, availability and reliability
• Manage IBM i security, user access, system upgrades, patching, backup, recovery and disaster recovery processes
• Support high-availability and business continuity solutions for critical enterprise platforms
• Design, implement and support enterprise infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualization and cloud technologies
• Administer and support Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Linux environments
• Manage and maintain virtualization platforms, including VMware and Hyper-V
• Implement, support and optimize Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud infrastructure
• Monitor system performance, capacity and availability, and find and fix infrastructure issues before they cause problems
• Lead incident resolution, root cause analysis and problem management for production systems
• Plan, coordinate and carry out infrastructure changes and upgrades while keeping operational risk low
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery, business continuity and operational support documentation
• Apply security best practices, system hardening standards and vulnerability fixes
• Manage identity and access controls across infrastructure platforms and services
• Automate infrastructure administration and operational processes using scripting and automation tools
• Support audit, compliance and regulatory requirements through strong infrastructure governance and controls
• Partner with application, network, security and business teams to deliver reliable, scalable technology solutions

Required Qualifications

• Must live in St. Louis, Missouri, or the immediate surrounding area
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure administration or related IT roles
• 3+ years of hands-on IBM i (iSeries/AS400) administration and support
• Experience managing enterprise Windows Server and Linux environments
• Experience with virtualization, storage, backup/recovery and networking
• Knowledge of enterprise security, patch management, vulnerability remediation and access management
• Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues and performing root cause analysis
• Experience supporting high-availability, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions
• Strong understanding of system monitoring, performance tuning and capacity planning
• Ability to create and maintain technical documentation and procedures
• Ability to provide after-hours support as needed
• Commitment to building security into all decisions and daily work

Preferred Qualifications

• IBM i administration experience, including security, BRMS, Power Systems, LPARs, performance management, PowerVM and VIOS
• Experience with cloud and hybrid environments (Azure, AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform)
• Experience with VMware, Hyper-V or Nutanix
• Experience with enterprise storage, backup and disaster recovery technologies
• Automation and scripting with PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Bash or similar tools
• Working knowledge of networking, identity and access management, and infrastructure security
• Experience with ITIL-based service management and change management processes
• Experience supporting highly available, business-critical production environments
• Relevant certifications in IBM i, cloud platforms, virtualization, infrastructure or IT service management
