Junior Embedded Software Engineer
Location: Fareham, Hampshire (Hybrid Working)
Salary: Up to £38,000
Are you a recent graduate or junior software engineer looking to build a career in embedded software development?
I'm working with an innovative, high-growth technology business based in Fareham that is looking to expand its engineering team with a Junior Embedded Software Engineer.
This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, developing firmware and algorithms for advanced capacitive touch sensor products used by leading consumer electronics customers.
You'll gain hands-on experience working with embedded C, Python, microcontrollers and signal processing, contributing to the development of cutting-edge technology.
The Role
  • Develop and debug embedded C firmware for resource-constrained microcontrollers.
  • Support the design and development of capacitive sensing algorithms.
  • Use Python for algorithm development, simulation and data analysis.
  • Design, implement and test algorithms for tracking and interpreting user input.
  • Investigate firmware and hardware behaviour, including performance, timing and memory usage.
  • Work closely with software, hardware, systems and applications engineering teams.
  • Support feature development and product improvements based on customer requirements.
  • Contribute to testing, debugging and continuous product development.
What We're Looking For
  • A degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a similar relevant discipline.
  • Some industry experience through a placement year or postgraduate engineering experience.
  • A good understanding of software development, ideally including C programming.
  • An interest in embedded systems and working with hardware.
  • Strong logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Python, MATLAB or LabVIEW would be beneficial.
  • An interest in digital signal processing (DSP) or image processing would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of software development practices, testing and version control would be beneficial.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn.
