Job Title: Splunk Data Engineer / Splunk Administrator


Location: Richmond, VA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid

About the Role


We are hiring an experienced Splunk Data Engineer / Splunk Administrator with strong hands-on experience managing large-scale Splunk environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Splunk Enterprise/Cloud administration, clustering, data ingestion, search optimization, SmartStore, and high-volume data environments.


Must Haves:




  • 5 7 years of hands-on experience administering large-scale Splunk Enterprise or Splunk Cloud environments.




  • Strong experience with Splunk Indexer Clustering and Search Head Clustering.




  • Hands-on experience with Universal Forwarders and Heavy Forwarders.




  • Strong knowledge of Splunk SmartStore and S3-compatible object storage.




  • Strong proficiency in SPL, search optimization, summary indexing, and Data Model Acceleration.




  • Hands-on experience with Cribl for data collection, routing, filtering, and ingestion optimization.




  • Experience managing high-volume data ingestion, platform performance, and reliability.




  • Experience supporting approximately 500 600 GB/day or higher data volumes.




  • Experience managing and supporting multiple large Splunk clusters.




  • Strong troubleshooting skills across indexing, searching, ingestion, and overall Splunk platform performance.




  • Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments.




Day to Day:




  • Administer and support large-scale Splunk Enterprise/Cloud environments.




  • Manage Indexer Clusters and Search Head Clusters across complex enterprise environments.




  • Design, configure, and support Universal Forwarder and Heavy Forwarder architectures.




  • Manage Splunk SmartStore and S3-compatible object storage.




  • Develop and optimize SPL queries, searches, dashboards, and reports.




  • Perform search optimization, summary indexing, and Data Model Acceleration.




  • Manage high-volume data ingestion and optimize Splunk platform performance.




  • Use Cribl for data routing, filtering, transformation, and ingestion optimization.




  • Troubleshoot Splunk indexing, search, ingestion, clustering, and performance issues.




  • Monitor platform health, capacity, data flow, and cluster performance.




  • Support multiple enterprise-scale Splunk clusters and large data environments.




  • Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, security, and application teams to maintain a reliable Splunk platform.




Preferred Skills:




  • Splunk Enterprise Admin Certification.




  • Splunk Enterprise Architect Certification.




  • Experience in financial services/banking environments.




  • Experience supporting very large-scale, high-volume Splunk environments.


    Hourly Rate: 60$-65$ per hour
    This range reflects base compensation and may vary based on location, market conditions, experience, and candidate qualifications.
