Job Title: Technical Project Manager Data Center Infrastructure

Location: Houston, TX (100% Onsite)

Duration: 6 12 Months

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technical Project Manager to lead the end-to-end execution of complex data center infrastructure projects. In this role, you will oversee greenfield builds, large-scale retrofits, server/network deployments, and lab build-outs. You will serve as the core technical lead bridging IT engineering, facilities, and external vendors from initial design through commissioning and operational hand-off.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Center Deployment Leadership: Drive end-to-end planning, scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and execution for greenfield data center developments and major retrofits.

  • Physical & Technical Oversight: Utilize MS Visio and blueprints to manage physical infrastructure layouts, structured cabling (TIA/EIA fiber/copper), rack & stack operations, airflow optimization, and lab build-outs.

  • Facilities & Environmental Coordination: Partner with IT Facilities to oversee power provisioning, PDU balancing, thermal/cooling requirements for high-density environments, and physical access security.

  • Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for internal engineering teams, cross-functional partners, and hardware/cabling vendors, ensuring strict SLA compliance.

  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all site operations adhere to Uptime Institute Tier classifications, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and HIPAA safety and regulatory standards. Produce accurate architectural drawings, runbooks, and SOPs for handover.

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven track record leading large-scale data center infrastructure, rack & stack, and facility retrofit projects.

  • Infrastructure Knowledge: Deep technical expertise in server/network hardware (switches, routers, SAN/Storage), high-density cooling, power distribution, and DCIM/BMS platforms.

  • Cabling & Design Tools: Advanced proficiency with MS Visio (or similar drafting tools) and structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA fiber and copper).

  • Hybrid Cloud Exposure: Solid understanding of capacity planning, risk mitigation, and hybrid cloud integration concepts (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).

  • Methodologies: Strong background in Agile or hybrid project management, risk management frameworks, and stakeholder communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active PMP or CAPM certifications.

  • Technical certifications in networking, data center systems, or cloud infrastructure.

  • Experience working with Uptime Institute Tier standards, SOC 2, or ISO compliance environments.
