About the Role

Are you ready to take your leadership career to the next level and make a difference where it matters most?

At Belmont Primary and Secondary Schools, we're looking for an exceptional Headteacher with the vision, drive and determination to lead two specialist provisions and create life-changing opportunities for young people.

This is more than a traditional Headteacher role. It's an opportunity to shape the future of two schools, inspire talented teams and transform educational experiences for students who need a different approach to learning.

Supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside additional learning and communication difficulties, our schools believe in Thinking and Learning Differently. We recognise that every student has their own strengths, challenges and aspirations, and we're committed to helping them achieve more than they ever thought possible.

As Headteacher, you'll provide strategic and operational leadership across both our Primary and Secondary schools, driving high standards, championing innovative teaching and ensuring students receive the personalised education and support they deserve.

Working alongside the Senior Leadership Teams and Regional Director, you'll have the opportunity to influence school development, empower colleagues and create a positive, ambitious culture where students and staff can thrive.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead with vision and ambition, providing inspirational leadership across both Belmont Primary and Secondary Schools.
  • Shape exceptional education, driving curriculum development, high-quality teaching and personalised learning for students with SEMH and additional needs.
  • Inspire and develop your teams, building a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous professional growth.
  • Drive school improvement, using self-evaluation, performance information and quality assurance to raise standards and improve outcomes.
  • Champion student wellbeing and safeguarding, ensuring both schools provide safe, inclusive and supportive learning environments.
  • Build meaningful partnerships with families, local authorities, external professionals and other stakeholders.
  • Lead with confidence through inspections, ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining high standards across both provisions.
  • Oversee effective school operations, including financial management, resource planning and budget control.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a confident, forward-thinking leader who combines educational expertise with the ability to motivate others, embrace challenges and deliver lasting improvements.

You'll bring:

  • QTS, NPQH or a degree, in line with the role requirements.
  • Successful leadership experience as a Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher within a specialist or SEMH setting.
  • A strong understanding of SEMH needs, learning difficulties and communication challenges, with a commitment to inclusive education.
  • A proven track record of driving school improvement and achieving positive educational outcomes.
  • Experience of Ofsted inspections, quality assurance and working with school improvement partners.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire, develop and support high-performing teams.
  • Strong strategic planning, communication and decision-making skills.
  • Experience managing school budgets, resources and financial compliance.
  • The resilience, creativity and ambition to lead positive change across two school sites.

Two Schools. One Shared Vision. Countless Opportunities to Make a Difference.

At Belmont, we know that outstanding leadership can change the direction of a young person's life.

Every improvement you drive, every colleague you inspire and every opportunity you create will help students build confidence, develop independence and prepare for a more positive future.

You'll have the opportunity to make a lasting impact across two specialist schools, supported by the wider expertise and resources of Outcomes First Group.

If you're an experienced Headteacher looking for a new challenge, or an ambitious Deputy Headteacher ready to step into whole-school leadership, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

About Us

Belmont School is an independent specialist school providing education for boys aged 5–18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated complex behaviours. The school operates as one community across two phases: a Primary Phase in Rossendale for students aged 5–11 and a Secondary Phase in Rawtenstall for students aged 11–18.

At Belmont, we provide a safe, nurturing and trauma-informed environment where every student is understood, supported and encouraged to succeed. Through small classes, personalised learning pathways and therapeutic support, we help students overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and resilience, and take pride in their achievements.

Our broad and ambitious curriculum provides opportunities for academic, vocational and creative development, alongside a strong focus on social development, independence and essential life skills. We work hard to nurture aspiration and equip our students with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to make a positive contribution to society and achieve a successful future.

With provision across both the Primary and Secondary phases, Belmont offers a genuinely joined-up educational journey, supporting students from their earliest years through to adulthood.

The school is easily commutable from Rawtenstall, Bury, Burnley and the surrounding areas.

At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer. We support students with a wide range of complex, co-occurring and neurodivergent needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and communication needs, dyslexia and experiences of trauma or adversity.

We are proud to be a part of OFG Education who in 2025 were officially certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the sixth year running.
