Job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Global Director - Accounts Receivable based in the United States.
We are seeking an experienced finance leader to oversee and transform global Accounts Receivable (AR) and Order-to-Cash operations within an international professional services organization. In this strategic leadership role, you will ensure accurate billing, efficient collections, strong financial controls, and consistent reporting across multiple countries. You will drive global process standardization, automation, and continuous improvement while adapting to local regulatory and customer requirements. Working closely with Finance, Sales, Operations, Legal, and other stakeholders, you will strengthen cash flow visibility and improve working capital performance. You will also play a key role in integrating acquired businesses and building scalable financial processes. This is an excellent opportunity to shape global finance operations and deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, accountability, and financial performance.
Accountabilities:
- Lead and oversee the complete global Accounts Receivable and Order-to-Cash process, including customer onboarding, billing readiness, invoice issuance, collections, cash application, dispute management, credit reviews, and month-end close activities.
- Establish and implement consistent global policies and procedures for billing, collections, credit management, cash application, dispute escalation, and bad debt reserves while accommodating country-specific legal and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with Operations, Project Management, Sales, Legal, Tax, Treasury, and local Finance teams to resolve invoicing discrepancies, contractual billing challenges, customer disputes, credit risks, and collection obstacles.
- Develop and monitor key AR performance indicators, including Average Days Delinquent (ADD), receivables aging, collection effectiveness, unapplied cash, dispute resolution timelines, invoice rejection rates, billing cycle times, and high-risk customer exposure.
- Lead the standardization, optimization, and automation of billing and cash application processes through ERP workflows, customer portals, invoice templates, project billing controls, and integrated reporting solutions.
- Support the financial integration of acquired businesses by assessing existing Order-to-Cash processes, aligning billing requirements, migrating customer master data, standardizing collection procedures, and ensuring consistent AR reporting.
- Maintain robust financial controls over customer master data, billing authorization, revenue cut-off, credit approvals, allowance assessments, write-offs, cash application, and supporting documentation.
- Partner with Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) teams to improve visibility into cash receipts, overdue balances, collection risks, and other receivables-related factors affecting liquidity and cash flow forecasts.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen billing discipline, accelerate collections, resolve disputes effectively, and increase transparency and accountability across global receivables operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
- At least 8 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Order-to-Cash, billing, collections, project accounting, shared services, or accounting operations leadership.
- Previous experience managing financial operations in professional services, consulting, engineering, project-based, multi-country, or acquisition-driven organizations is highly desirable.
- Strong expertise in global Accounts Receivable management, including invoicing, collections governance, cash application, credit management, dispute resolution, and financial reporting.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Sage Intacct, including system implementations, configuration, optimization, and ongoing process improvements.
- Proven ability to standardize complex financial processes, strengthen internal controls, and implement automation initiatives across large or geographically distributed organizations.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, revenue recognition and cut-off procedures, bad debt reserves, customer credit assessments, and cash flow management.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to develop meaningful performance metrics, interpret financial data, identify operational inefficiencies, and translate insights into actionable improvements.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Commercial, Legal, Operations, and international teams.
- Strategic thinking combined with a hands-on approach, strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Annual base salary: $125,000–$150,000 USD, depending on experience and qualifications. This range represents base compensation and excludes benefits.
- Remote working: Fully remote position based in the United States.
- Global exposure: Opportunity to lead financial operations across multiple countries and collaborate with diverse international teams.
- Strategic ownership: Significant influence over global financial processes, operational transformation, and business integration initiatives.
- Professional development: Opportunity to expand leadership expertise and contribute to large-scale finance transformation projects.
- Inclusive workplace: A diverse and collaborative environment that values integrity, fairness, professional excellence, and equal opportunities.
- Meaningful impact: Contribute to improving operational performance and financial processes in mission-critical and highly regulated industries.
