Systems Security IV&V Engineer

Role Summary
The Security Systems IV&V (Independent Verification & Validation) Engineer is responsible for leading and executing IV&V activities for network systems infrastructure projects. This role ensures that all network and security systems comply with operational, security, and industry standards, supporting mission-critical objectives. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to verify deliverables, assess risks, and facilitate continuous system improvement.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute IV&V activities for network and security infrastructure projects.
• Develop and maintain IV&V methodologies, checklists, and documentation to ensure comprehensive coverage and traceability.
• Evaluate system architectures, configurations, and deployments for compliance with standards and requirements.
• Conduct assessments, audits, and testing of network components such as routers, switches, and firewalls to validate security, functionality, and performance.
• Identify gaps, risks, and non-conformities, providing actionable recommendations for remediation.
• Prepare and deliver detailed IV&V reports highlighting findings, risks, and improvement opportunities for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project management teams to ensure timely issue resolution.
• Support or lead continuous monitoring activities, incorporating vulnerability assessments into risk analysis.
• Apply and validate NIST SP 800-53 controls, manage the full RMF lifecycle, and support FedRAMP and FISMA compliance.
• Mentor junior staff and stay current with emerging technologies, standards, and best practices in security and IV&V.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in IV&V, security assessment, or network/system validation roles within federal or DoD environments.
• Strong understanding of network security components, protocols, and testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with NIST standards, RMF lifecycle management, FedRAMP, and FISMA compliance.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to develop detailed methodologies, checklists, and documentation.
• Strong communication skills to translate technical vulnerabilities into actionable insights for executive stakeholders.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.
• Availability to work on-site at the designated location.
• This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.

Publishing Pay Range: $55.00 - $60.00 USD Hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
