About the Role

We are seeking a Compliance Manager to support bp’s European APAC Power & Carbon (EPAC) Trading and Origination business. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, trading venue rules, and bp policies while partnering closely with commercial teams to enable responsible business growth.

Reporting to the Senior Compliance Manager, you will provide expert advice, conduct compliance monitoring and surveillance activities, identify and mitigate compliance risks, and help foster a strong culture of ethics and integrity across the trading business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide timely compliance and regulatory advice to trading, origination, and support teams across the EPAC business.
  • Monitor and assess regulatory developments impacting commodity trading activities, including REMIT, MiFID II, EMIR, MAR, ETS2 and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Conduct surveillance and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with trading venue rules and market conduct requirements.
  • Support the delivery and ongoing enhancement of a risk-based trading compliance monitoring programme.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks associated with existing and new business activities.
  • Maintain and enhance compliance policies, procedures, and controls, ensuring documentation remains current and accessible.
  • Deliver compliance training and awareness initiatives to improve understanding of regulatory obligations and internal requirements.
  • Partner with front office, operations, legal, risk, and other support functions to embed strong compliance practices.
  • Support investigations, incident management, and regulatory inquiries where required.
  • Build strong relationships across global Ethics & Compliance teams to facilitate knowledge sharing and standard methodology adoption.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Degree qualified or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong knowledge of energy commodity trading markets and trading business processes.
  • Understanding of key regulatory frameworks including REMIT, MiFID II, MAR, EMIR, FCA requirements, and related market conduct obligations.
  • Experience providing compliance, regulatory, risk, or governance support within a trading environment.
  • Ability to influence and build credibility with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • High levels of integrity, sound judgement, and professional courage.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, global, and highly regulated environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within gas and power trading markets.
  • Knowledge of automated or algorithmic trading activities and associated compliance requirements.
  • Experience developing and delivering compliance training programmes.
  • Previous experience engaging with regulators and managing regulatory relationships.
