Overview

A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Edinburgh office. The role offers the opportunity to lead mechanical building services design on a variety of projects, ranging from commercial offices and education buildings to cultural and public-sector developments.

The successful candidate will bring technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to mentor junior engineers, while delivering innovative and sustainable mechanical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design across multiple projects from concept through to completion.
• Coordinate closely with architects, electrical engineers, and other disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Produce design calculations, specifications, and detailed drawings.
• Ensure designs meet quality, budget, and programme requirements.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Apply sustainable design principles and contribute to innovative engineering solutions.

About You

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or related discipline).
• Significant experience in mechanical building services design, ideally in a consultancy environment.
• Strong understanding of sustainable design, HVAC systems, and building services integration.
• Excellent communication, project management, and coordination skills.
• Proactive, self-motivated, and collaborative, with the ability to deliver high-quality solutions.
