Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

About the job Position : Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Location : Sheffield Sector : Engineering Shift : 4-on, 4-off continental shift pattern, covering 12-hour day shifts (06:00-18:00) and night shifts (18:00-06:00) Salary £50,000

Responsibilities:

Take responsibility for all planned and reactive mechanical maintenance activities across the plant.<br />Provide first-line mechanical maintenance and breakdown support to minimise equipment downtime.<br />Manage mechanical engineering activities on shift while ensuring full compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.<br />Assist with planning and coordinating shift maintenance activities, providing specialist mechanical knowledge where required.<br />Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving equipment reliability, performance and efficiency.<br />Investigate plant breakdowns and provide accurate technical information and reports to support Single Event Analysis (SEA).<br />Assist in identifying root causes of recurring failures and implementing corrective actions to prevent breakdowns from reoccurring.<br />Complete accurate and detailed engineering and maintenance reports.<br />Lead, support, coach and develop maintenance personnel, including apprentices.<br />About You Motivated to work effectively within a busy, demanding industrial environment.<br />Demonstrable hands-on mechanical experience within an industrial or engineering setting.<br />Strong practical mechanical knowledge, with the ability to apply technical skills effectively.<br />Confident in supervising, supporting, coaching and developing colleagues.<br />Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.<br />Well-organised, with strong planning, fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.<br />Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures, environmental standards and compliance requirements.About Us We are dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive community.
