Title: Talend Architect

Location: Irving, TX(Onsite)

Duration: Long Term

Key Responsibilities

Current-State Assessment

• Analyze the existing Informatica landscape (PowerCenter and/or IICS): workflows, mappings, sessions, mapplets, reusable transformations, and repository structure
• Document data lineage, source/target dependencies, scheduling patterns, and error-handling logic
• Assess data volumes, performance SLAs, and integration touchpoints to inform sizing and design decisions
• Identify constructs with no direct Talend equivalent and define translation/redesign strategies

Target-State Architecture

• Design the Talend Data Fabric environment topology (Studio, TAC/TMC, Job Servers, Talend Runtimes, artifact repository, Git-based project management)
• Map Informatica components to Talend equivalents (e.g., mapplet reusable Job/subjob, workflow Job orchestration)
• Define environment tiers (dev/test/prod), network and security architecture, and connectivity to source/target systems
• Select appropriate Talend Data Fabric modules based on requirements (Data Integration, Data Quality, Data Catalog, MDM, ESB)
• Establish standards for Job design, naming conventions, error handling, and logging/monitoring

Environment Setup & Migration Planning

• Lead or directly perform installation and configuration of the Talend environment (TAC/Cloud TMC, Job Servers, Nexus repository, CI/CD pipeline if applicable)
• Define the migration approach (lift-and-shift vs. redesign) on a workflow-by-workflow or domain basis
• Develop a cutover and rollback plan, including parallel run/validation strategy
• Create architecture documentation, migration runbooks, and best-practice guidelines for the development team

Collaboration & Governance

• Partner with Talend administrators, developers, and Informatica SMEs during the transition
• Provide architectural guidance and code/design reviews for migrated Jobs
• Act as the technical point of contact for platform-level design decisions
