Van Driver - Castlebar

We are recruiting a Van Driver for our branch in Castlebar, Mayo.

 

Role Purpose:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods to customers while providing excellent customer service and representing Rexel professionally. The role requires a strong focus on customer satisfaction, efficient route planning, and ensuring all deliveries are completed accurately and safely.

Key Accountabilities:

• Deliver goods to customers safely, efficiently, and on time.
• Ensure all deliveries are accurately checked and accompanied by the required documentation.
• Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach at all times.
• Load and unload delivery vehicles in line with health and safety procedures.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects or issues promptly.
• Plan routes effectively to maximise delivery efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with road safety regulations and company driving policies.
• Support with occasional warehouse duties when required.
• Any other duties as reasonably required.

Essential Experience:

• Previous experience in a delivery driver role.
• Experience dealing directly with customers.
• A clean and valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle operated.
• Knowledge of the local area and route planning is an advantage.
• Experience within the electrical wholesale or distribution sector is beneficial but not essential.

Technical/Functional Skills:

• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage delivery schedules effectively.
• Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
• Good attention to detail, particularly when checking deliveries and documentation.
• Basic computer or handheld device literacy.
• Ability to work as part of a wider branch team.
