Bioinformatics Engineer

We are seeking a Bioinformatics Engineer for our client based out of San Diego,CA.This is a hybrid role. Job description is below.

Pay Rate : $50 on W2 OR $55 on C2C.

Job Overview:

·   Design and implement bioinformatics analyses to support the development of novel assays, improvement of assays under development, and hypothesis testing requested Product Development and Computational Biology team.

·   Collect and document product and software requirements and findings from analyses executed by themself and others.

·   Design and implement software modules implementing the requirements collected from data analyses.

·   Assist with the integration of software modules into pipelines.

·   Design and implement software modules to automate data analyses.

·   Prepare and provide information and data for scientific abstracts/conferences/project meetings/publications.

·   Identify and address trends in study data.

·   Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

·   Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·   Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 50% of a typical working day.

·   Ability and means to travel 10% between local Exact Sciences locations.

·   Ability to travel 5% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

·   Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or field as outlined in the essential duties.

·   4+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education as outlined in the essential duties.

·   Experience with software ticketing, progress tracking, and timeline tracking systems: JIRA, Smartsheet.

·   Knowledge and adherence to good coding and documentation practices.

·   Knowledge of molecular biology and/or biochemistry and/or next-generation sequencing (NGS) and genomics.

·   Working knowledge of statistical and mathematical methods in biology/genetics/genomics, including experience with statistical software, such as JMP or R.

·   Basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing.

·   Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

·   Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

·   Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

·    Advanced degree (PhD or Masters).

·    6+ years of relevant experience.

·    Experience in an FDA-regulated environment, ideally in medical device development.

·    Experience with computer vision, image analysis, or machine-learning workflows in a biomedical or scientific setting.

·    Experience in a biotech manufacturing environment, preferably in an GMP and/or ISO environment.

·    Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), and clinical and diagnostic test development.

·    Experience with PDP (Product Development Process) and/or Cancer Genomics.
