Senior QA Automation Engineer – TSYS & Visa Payments

Location: Vancouver / Toronto / Remote in Canada
Type: 12 Months Contract – Potential Extension

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Automation Engineer with a strong background in TSYS payment processing and Visa payment systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in test automation for payment applications, transaction processing, API integration, and end-to-end testing within the banking and payments domain.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test scripts for payment applications.

• Perform functional, integration, regression, API, and end-to-end testing for TSYS and Visa payment platforms.

• Validate complete payment transaction flows, including:

  • Authorization

  • Clearing

  • Settlement

  • Reconciliation

  • Exception handling

• Test card transaction processing and payment integrations across multiple systems.

• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Developers, Product Owners, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality software delivery.

• Develop and execute automated test cases using industry-standard automation frameworks and tools.

• Perform API testing using Postman, REST Assured, or similar tools.

• Execute database validation and backend testing using SQL.

• Analyze defects, perform root-cause analysis, and work closely with development teams to resolve issues.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Daily Stand-ups, and Retrospectives.

• Prepare and maintain test plans, test strategies, test cases, execution reports, and quality metrics.

• Support release validation, production testing, and critical testing activities when required.

• Work effectively with distributed and global teams in a remote environment.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in QA Automation or Software Quality Engineering.

• Strong hands-on experience with the TSYS payment processing platform.

• Proven experience testing Visa payment systems, including:

  • Authorization

  • Clearing

  • Settlement

  • Card transaction processing

• Strong understanding of the payment card ecosystem and transaction life cycle.

• Knowledge of ISO 8583 message formats and payment transaction processing.

• Strong experience with API testing, web services, and microservices.

• Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar frameworks.

• Strong knowledge of SQL and database testing.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.

• Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or TestRail.

• Strong understanding of functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing methodologies.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with acquiring, issuing, card management, or merchant payment systems.

• Experience working with banking, financial services, or payment processing applications.

• Experience with cloud-based testing environments.

• Exposure to performance and load testing tools and methodologies.

• Knowledge of payment gateway and payment processor integrations.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
