Research Officer (Policy & Research)
£194.38 per day (Outside IR35)/23 Months - Edinburgh
Parity is delighted to partner with our client, a public sector organisation, who are looking to recruit a on a 23-month contract basis.
You will be based in their modern, central Edinburgh offices with potential to work remotely 2 days a week.
We are looking for a Research Officer to join the Policy & Research Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced researcher to take ownership of their own projects and contribute to high-quality research within a complex, sensitive, and multidisciplinary environment.
Working under the supervision of the Head of Policy and Research, you will analyse information gathered, produce research reviews and evaluate evidence to support.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse qualitative and quantitative information gathered by wider teams.
- Produce literature reviews and rapid reviews to inform and guide.
- Research, identify and obtain relevant information from a range of sources, including historical records, government and local authority records, institutional records, legislation, and published research.
- Review and evaluate the implementation of public policies.
- Communicate research findings clearly to a range of stakeholders.
- Take ownership of individual research projects, objectives, and deadlines.
- Support the copy-editing and proofreading of reports, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality.
- Work collaboratively across a multidisciplinary team.
- Provide wider support to the Policy & Research Team as required.
About You
You will have experience gathering, managing, and analysing complex and sensitive information for research purposes, ideally within large-scale research projects and datasets.
You will be highly organised, meticulous, and comfortable working independently while also contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team. The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to tight timescales is essential.
You will also have:
- Excellent IT skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and Outlook.
- Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of English grammar and usage.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
- Experience working on complex, large-scale research projects and datasets.
- The ability to prioritise effectively according to project requirements and deadlines.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Resilience and the ability to work appropriately with sensitive and potentially distressing subject matter.
