About the role:

The Engineer, Google Cloud supports the delivery and optimisation of Google Cloud and Google Services across the University. The role coordinates Google Service provisioning, configuration and continuous improvement, ensuring solutions are reliable, compliant, efficient and aligned with governance standards. It works independently with technical teams and stakeholders to integrate services, improve platform performance, reliability, and customer experience.

As an Engineer, Google Cloud , you will:
  • Analyse complex cloud environment to understand the functional design.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement change through appropriate channels
  • Ensure cloud environment compliance and availability.
  • Prioritise work and evaluate progress to deliver outcomes
  • Provide constructive feedback to support team capability
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
  • Ensure clarity of roles, responsibilities and expectations within teams
  • Seek and respond to feedback to improve services
  • Contribute to planning and delivery aligned to priorities
To be successful, you'll have:
  • Degree with substantial relevant experience, extensive technical/administrative management expertise, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Proven experience delivering and building complex cloud environments, particularly using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) , with AWS/Azure experience desirable.
  • Strong Python development skills, particularly in creating scripts and Cloud Functions , with the ability to develop complex and effective cloud guardrail systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to coordinate or lead complex work and influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and perform system administration across Google services, including GCP, Workspace, Play Console, My Business, Search Console, Analytics, and Tag Manager .
