About the role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated MRI Deputy Superintendent Radiographer to join our Imaging & Diagnostics team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished MRI Radiographer looking to take the next step in their leadership career within a premium healthcare environment. Working closely with the MRI Superintendent and Imaging & Diagnostics Centre Director, you will play a key role in supporting the operational, clinical, and professional leadership of the MRI service.

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality MRI examinations across a diverse patient population, including adults and paediatrics, while helping to drive service development, quality improvement, and staff development initiatives. You will support the implementation of innovative practices, optimise imaging protocols, and contribute to maintaining the highest standards of patient care, safety, and governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day leadership and management of the MRI service.

  • Deliver high-quality MRI examinations across a broad range of specialties, including cardiac, neurological, musculoskeletal, breast, gastrointestinal, and paediatric imaging.

  • Lead on protocol optimisation, image quality improvement, education, and training initiatives.

  • Deputise for the MRI Superintendent when required.

  • Promote MRI safety and ensure compliance with governance, quality, and regulatory standards.

  • Mentor and support radiographers, contributing to their professional development.

  • Work closely with Radiologists, Cardiologists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver outstanding patient outcomes.

  • Contribute to service development, innovation, audit, and continuous improvement projects.

  • Support rota planning, workforce management, and departmental operations.

About You

You are an experienced MRI Radiographer with strong technical expertise, a commitment to clinical excellence, and a passion for delivering outstanding patient care. You are a confident leader who enjoys developing others, supporting service improvement initiatives, and maintaining the highest professional standards.

You thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess the organisational skills, clinical judgement, and adaptability required to manage a varied workload while ensuring an exceptional patient experience.

Essential Requirements

  • BSc (Hons) in Radiography, DCR(R), or recognised international equivalent.

  • Current HCPC registration.

  • MRI experience.

  • Experience working independently within an MRI environment.

  • Exposure to specialist MRI imaging techniques.

  • Extensive clinical and technical knowledge of MRI practice.

  • Strong understanding of MRI Safety, Quality Assurance, Health & Safety, and Clinical Audit requirements.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to prioritise workload and make sound clinical decisions.

  • Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.

  • Flexibility to participate in extended hours, Saturday working, and on-call rotas.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience in Cardiac MRI.

  • IV cannulation and contrast administration experience.

  • Previous involvement in staff training, mentoring, or supervisory responsibilities.
